Mac App Store download stuck

If the Mac App Store shows the circular download indicator for an app and then stops and returns to the Get / download button, it’s often caused by a stuck App Store session. Signing out and signing back in refreshes your purchase state and usually fixes it.

  1. Open the App Store on your Mac.
  2. In the macOS menu bar, click StoreSign Out.
  3. Quit the App Store completely (App Store → Quit App Store), then reopen it.
  4. Search for the app again and click Get / the download button.
  5. When prompted, sign in with your Apple ID and try the download again.

If it still doesn’t download, restart your Mac and repeat the steps above.
